Understanding Stellar MLS Listing Deadlines

Here’s how the timing works depending on your situation:
  • If the contract is signed today but the effective date is later (for example, November 17, 2025):
    You’ll have five business days (not counting weekends or federal holidays) from November 17 to enter the listing into Matrix. In this case, it would be due by November 24, 2025.
  • If the contract’s effective date is today (November 4, 2025), but the seller wants to hold off marketing until November 17, 2025:
    The Multiple Listing Options for Property Owners form must be signed to temporarily exclude the listing.
    Even though it won’t be marketed yet, the listing still needs to be entered into Matrix within five business days of today’s date (the effective date) — by November 11, 2025.
💡 Pro Tip:
  • Business days do not include weekends or federally recognized holidays.
  • The clock starts ticking the day after the effective date on your listing agreement.
  • If you’re ever unsure, it’s best to enter the listing early or check with Stellar MLS Compliance to avoid fines.
