Dalton Wade agents are permitted to work with clients using a retainer, provided the retainer is properly documented and processed through the brokerage.
The retainer must be included in a signed Listing Agreement or Buyer Broker Agreement (BBA). Many REALTOR® forms include a designated section or box for retainers.
Retainer checks must be made payable to Dalton Wade, not directly to the agent.
Dalton Wade will process the retainer and disburse the appropriate funds to the agent.
A retainer is considered a transaction and is subject to the agent’s applicable Dalton Wade transaction fee.
Agents should not accept retainer payments directly from clients outside of the brokerage.
